The Peace Alliance Newsletter
December 2007

Dear [First_Name],

As we all move forward into this time of connection, joy, celebration and renewal, we at the Peace Alliance want to thank you for the shared journey of political activism---a journey that many of you have expressed as being the sacred duty of citizens in a democracy. A journey and path that calls us to evolve and shape our political institutions to match and align with the interests and rights of all citizens.

A path that leads from the individual, and outward to the community, and continues to ebb and flow as we nurture and feed the inner and outer by Being the Change and Being the Peace we wish to see.

In this time of giving and receiving, I'd like to share some thoughts with you.

We are all connected and I AM deeply grateful for the work each of you do.
Please take a moment to be grateful that you have placed yourself on this path and acknowledge that whatever you do, makes a difference. Some of you have more time, more organizational skills, more resources etc...so it looks like some contribute more. In reality, every contribution is unique and equal and we could not move forward without everyone's role. Appreciate what you do and know it is enough. We are each enough. We never know what ripple effect one small action will have and must trust that it all matters.

Thank you so much for every small and large step you take and take a moment to receive this acknowledgement and gratitude.

I know we have shared with you in prior emails, the many successes we have had this year. I'd like to repeat just a few.

  • We have a major presence in D.C. and since October have been on the Hill lobbying almost every week.
  • The Student Peace Alliance is actively organized and they are fully involved in the D.C. office as interns and in lobbying on the Hill.
  • Between letters-to-the-editor, articles in magazines and newspapers, and radio and tv coverage, we have had at least 200 instances of coverage this year and probably more---we can't keep up with all of the press we are receiving.
  • City Council Resolutions endorsing HR 808 continue to gain momentum and 2008 will continue to see a focus on this.
  • And our many volunteers, State Coordinators, and Congressional District Team Leaders continue to give so much heart, time and money to the campaign---the true definition of success!

As you consider giving during this time of year, know that your gifts will be used wisely and will continue to support the growth in the campaign we continue to experience year-over-year. Consider one last reach into your budget before 2007 closes, or consider giving if you have not yet done so this year. No gift is too small and it all flows into the same stream that feeds and nourishes our work together.

Thank you, thank you for being our partners in peace and if you are not already a Peace Partner, please consider signing up now.

In Gratitude,

Wishing you a Happy Holiday and New Year!
From all of us on Staff at The Peace Alliance

Kathy Kidd
National Field Director

We would like to close this message, as we close 2008, with a quote favored by Wendy Greene's father who made his transition last week:

"We have a wonderful country. We're all blessed to be citizens of it, and we have a responsibility, in my view, to participate in our political system. We do so by way of politics and its corollary, public service."

~James Baker, former Secretary of State and Secretary of the Treasury

Artwork from International Child Art Foundation
This beautiful painting is a holiday wish sent to all Peace Alliance grassroots activists from the International Child Art Foundation

At the World Children’s Festival on the National Mall in Washington, DC on June 23-25, 2007, child artists from around the world collaboratively created spectacular murals to honor their global leaders.  This particular mural was painted to honor Nelson Mandela.  We are honored that they chose it to send their holiday wishes to all of us.
