Conference Report - Sunday, March, 22, 2009 PDF Print E-mail

By Miranda Fisher

With this incredible conference entering into its final days, Sunday morning began with grassroots sharing where the campaign heard about the various successes across the nation both in the general Peace Alliance campaign and the Student Peace Alliance.

Some of the highlights included the musical styling of the Colorado Department of Peace campaign who sang a song about the Department of Peace to the tune of “My Favorite Things.”

The Research Team presented about their legislative research and encouraged conference attendees to connect with them to learn more about the newest findings.

Students also were enthusiastic to share about their success over the past few years. Ryan Henderson, a student from Lakewood High School in Colorado, shared details about the Peactival his chapter planned just ten days prior to the conference. Aram Dagavarian, from Temple University in Philadelphia, explained his chapter’s efforts to establish classes for both college and high school students to promote peace and justice.

The grassroots sharing is an important aspect of the conference because it encourages people to return home and get involved in enhancing our efforts to implement and U.S. Department of Peace into our United States government.
