Photo: Congresswoman Chellie Pingree of MaineCongratulations volunteers in Maine’s District 1! Newly elected Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D) followed up with a campaign promise and signed on as cosponsor to HR 808, the legislation to establish a U.S. Department of Peace.

As State Coordinator Lynn Ellis reports, "We met with her Sr. Policy Advisor a few weeks ago and ‘sealed the deal’ as some say. This is the first from Maine and I am beyond delighted." Lynn further explains, "Her Sr. Policy Advisor supported this bill fully and I am sure helped influence this early sign-on. A great indicator of how important those meetings are with staff!"
