Juan Pacheco currently volunteers as the East Coast Representative for Barrios Unidos–Virginia Chapter. Barrios Unidos is a youth violence prevention/intervention and community awareness organization. The uniqueness of Barrios Unidos, Inc., lies in its transformational approach. Barrios Unidos offers hope by exposing youth to the power of resiliency through utilizing adults and older youth who have themselves experienced and overcome the challenges young people face. Barrios Unidos believes that drawing upon the resources of adults and older youth that have made it out of the “street life,” assists youth in choosing life-affirming behavior, positive self-esteem, constructive goals, supportive community, and cultural pride. Mr. Pacheco provides many motivational speeches and presentations, as well as running educational and recreational youth groups. He founded the Kids Club/Computer Lab program, in addition to organizing many community activities.

Azim Khamisa is Chairman, CEO and Founder of the Tariq Khamisa Foundation (TKF). Azim became a social activist after his 20-year-old son Tariq was senselessly murdered while delivering pizzas by Tony Hicks, a 14-year-old gang member. Out of unspeakable grief and despair, Azim was inspired to transform his loss through the miraculous power of forgiveness. Believing that there were "victims at both ends of the gun," Azim forgave Tony and founded TKF to stop kids from killing kids and to plant seeds of hope in their future. Share in his powerful story, gain insights into the power of forgiveness, and receive new ideas on how to forgive in your own life. In addition to the call recording, you can learn more about the power of forgiveness and download various tools on Azim's website at www.azimkhamisa.com .

Hiroshima survivor Takashi Tanemori did us the great honor of filling it at the last moment when our scheduled speaker was unable to make the call due to an emergency. A young boy living in Hiroshima when America dropped the world's first atomic bomb on August 6, 1945, Takashi explains,  "I was less than one mile from ground zero.  Although I survived, I lost six members of my family at age eight, including my parents.  When I buried my father, my entire world was devastated beyond the ravaged landscapes."His life-long struggle through the 'path' of Hiroshima has brought him home to his real promise to his father, to a place called "Peace through forgiveness."
