Our guest for our first call for 2009 was Lisa Schirch, professor of peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University and program director of the 3D Security Initiative.
Along with other peacebuilding initiatives, Lisa discussed a recent memo to the Obama Adminsitration,
entitled "Building Bridges and Preventing Conflict," written by The
Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP), the 3D Security Initiative and Global
Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC). You can download the memo here (PDF) 258.86 Kb.

Our guest for the December call was Mike Robbins, noted author, speaker and coach, who talked about the power of appreciation in our lives and work. During the Q&A, volunteer Therese LePage Csellak shared the following quote. Participants found it so inspiring, we were asked to post it here:
"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense out of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow." Melody Beattie
