Christine Elliot, B.A., LL.B, initiated the first California Department of Peace grassroots group with her husband, John McNeil, in 2004. From its early base in San Diego, the campaign grew throughout all of Southern California where there are now grassroots groups in more than 25 of the 33 congressional districts, and regional Dept. of Peace coordinators in the San Diego, Los Angeles, Inland Empire and Orange County areas. Christine and John are the Southern California Co-state Coordinators for the Dept. of Peace movement.

Christine practiced law for ten years as a corporate attorney. As the first female attorney at Shell Oil of Canada, she practiced all aspects of business law with a particular emphasis on transactional work, contracts, corporation law, securities and public financings. She left law practice in 1986 to further her business and entrepreneurial experience in corporate finance and sales, marketing, software development, music publishing and real estate information systems. Before retiring in 2006, she had established a private professional coaching practice as a business coach to small and solo practitioner law firms.

Author of the book The Overwork Trap: How We Get Caught and How We Escape, Christine is also a workshop leader and speaker to professional, academic and service organizations.
