By Kim Summers-Bates
Kentucky State Coordinator
On April 5th 2008 the U.S. Department of Peace Campaign of Kentucky hosted our first "Global Potluck" at The Center for Interfaith Relations. Each of us brought food to share from our country or state of origin.
Imagine! In Louisville Kentucky, eight countries (many that have experienced
the ravages of war) took their place at the table for PEACE!
|
Regions of Earth represented were:
- Republic of Congo
- Tibet
- Rwanda
- China
- Guatemala
- Togo
- Iran
- and the U.S.
|
Strength in diversity indeed! And all those flavors and aromas....Wow!
Music and poetry stirred our passions for the establishment of the U.S. Department of Peace! A key highlight for many of us happened when Rev. Susan EngPoole (of Chinese ancestry and heritage) offered a peaceful gesture in the lighting of candles with Louisville's dearly cherished resident Tibetan monks, Nawang, Tashi and Geshala.
Come experience the palpable spirit of peace and oneness that we all felt that night! Have a seat at the table with us at our next "Global Potluck!" We are committed to being the change we wish to see in the world!
