The Power of Persistence
by David Hoag

Here's something that I didn't get a chance to put into words at the proper time on the conference call tonight:  We will be losing one of our House cosponsors, Mike McNulty, at the end of this year. I missed my opportunity to share this story when you asked about prior experiences with PEACE OF THE PIE , so I am writing to you.

As you know, the Dept. of Peace legislation began being introduced in early 2001.  I didn't become aware of and begin lobbying for the bill until 3 years after its introduction, but when I did, I wrote Rep. McNulty a letter about once a month till last Mother's Day (May 2007).  I was all prepared to go to his office on the Friday before Mother’s Day to discuss with him the opportunity to become a cosponsor.  Then, I received an email from Kevin Fagan and found out that Rep. McNulty had signed that week!  So, the pie quickly turned into a thank-you gift!
