Invest in Peace: Return on Investment |
|

|
When we invest in building a house, we purchase labor, lumber, pipes, wiring, and other materials and put them together for a structure that will reap returns on that investment over many years to come in the form of home and hearth for our family.
And so it is with your Investment in Peace. Here are some of the ingredients that, with your support, The Peace Alliance is putting together to build an infrastructure that will reap peace for generations to come -- enabling you to be present to witness and fully participate in the emergence of a culture of peace.
Your Investment in Peace will go toward the following types of "construction" activities:
- Continue and grow our presence in our Nation’s Capital through our DC office and staff
- Grow the Student Peace Alliance, now active on over thirty campuses throughout the USA and planning their first annual conference October 19-21, 2007, at Brandeis University
- Launch our intern program, providing opportunities for youth to get invaluable grassroots organizing and lobbying experience
- Create a civic activism scholarship program, providing opportunities
for activists to receive peacebuilding training and take it back into
the community
- Support our State Coordinators and Congressional District Team Leaders,
through trainings, updated outreach materials, and retreats
- Participate as the US working group in the Global Alliance for
Ministries and Departments of Peace; we will send a delegation to the
Japan Summit in September 2007
- Raise public awareness in diverse communities and the general public
about peacebuilding and a US Department of Peace, through such media
outlets as PSAs, documentaries, DVDs, CDs, community access cable, and
our website, including versions in Spanish and potentially other
languages
