Invest in Peace: Support Central
  • Are you a monthly donor to The Peace Alliance?
  • Do you ask others if they’re monthly donors?
  • Do your family and friends know the depth of your commitment to this movement and the Department of Peace legislation?
  • Are you able to get past the word “peace” in talking to them?

If you answered “yes” to most of these questions, then you are ready to reach out and expand your circle of influence. If you answered “no” to most of them, then you have an opportunity to increase your courage and skills.

Talking about money can be a challenging thing. But don’t worry—all you're really doing is giving people the opportunity to give, and people LOVE to give! The Invest in Peace campaign is designed to support you in reaching out to your circle of friends, family and other volunteers. In addition to generating much needed funds to fuel this growing movement, you’ll have the opportunity to share with others your passion and commitment, and to feel comfortable discussing money and peace. And remember—we’re here to help you every step of the way.

Check out our Ten Steps to Success and join us on a Weekly National Coaching Call (see below). You can also download and print our new Case for Giving and donation form (PDF) to give to interested friends. We even have a sample script to help you start the conversation. You can also find tips on Hosting a House Party.

Research shows that the two most important things in an effective “ask” for money are:

1)    The passion of the asker (you)
2)    The sense of CHOICE experienced by the asked

Your job is to offer them a passionate opportunity, not to try to get them to do anything. And don’t underestimate the power of leading through example. If you’re not already a monthly donor to The Peace Alliance, consider making yourself your first “recruit.”

At the national level, we’re asking that 1% of the federal discretionary budget be dedicated to establishing and maintaining a U.S. Department of Peace. Until we achieve this result and our tax dollars are significantly invested in peace, it is incumbent upon us to consider personally investing monthly in establishing an institutional foundation for peacebuilding. You could choose to invest in peace at the same level (1% of your monthly net income) or find whatever your perfect amount is—it could be just $15 per month. Even if you give just a little, inviting others to do what you’re already doing strengthens your ask.

Most importantly, thank you for your vision and commitment. Your participation in the Department of Peace campaign and the movement for a culture of peace is truly making a world of difference.
