In early 2003, the campaign to create a U. S. Department of Peace was launched.  Since then, thousands of people have been touched by the simple power and beauty of this concept. Many have joined the campaign and become active supporters. Others have donated money or simply made a phone call now and again.  Together we have turned this vision into a tangible and realistic goal. 

Still, in the face of world events, it is not uncommon to falter. Many have questioned whether or not we will actually achieve this vision, and have felt the despair and longing for a new day, for the arrival of that ‘shining city on a hill, the light of which is the light of all nations.’ There are moments when we wonder if it is possible, and seek some assurances that our vision and effort will indeed persist into the future. We have sought a way to "guarantee" the vision will be sustained into reality, to ensure there will always be someone there to enroll another and another and then another into the culture of peace.

Launching the Fund

October 2006 marked the launch of the Guarantee Fund, a group of self-selected donors who stand together to guarantee the financial viability of the Department of Peace campaign, so we are able to sustain our grassroots efforts until the bill is law. We are inviting you to join with others who are committing $1,000 each year (that is about $20 a week or $83.34 a month). You can choose to make this commitment until the legislation is passed as part of the Visionary Circle OR you can commit to donate $1,000 for the number of years you select, as part of the Guarantee Fund.

Be a part of history, standing on the shoulders of Americans who stepped forth and declared a future that most thought impossible.  They declared a new nation, an end to slavery, the right for all to vote, and the protection of our civil liberties.
