Here are some things others are doing with the Walk for Peace in their community.
From Tim Shera in NY:
Here in the Catskill region of New York state we have been setting up the First Annual Sullivan County Celebration of Peace and Nonviolence. There are about 20 events scheduled around the county at this time all celebrating in one way or another peace and nonviolence. Each event supports the Dept. of Peace campaign. They include Concert for Peace, Picnic for Peace, benefit for the Dept. of Peace campaign jazz concert, the free showing "Gandhi", multiple programs on our local community operated National Public Radio station, 10 mile Walk for Peace starting and ending at the old Woodstock site, etc. This all came from the inspiration that arose in me when I heard that 9/11 is the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi starting his nonviolent movement. I have had SO much support in putting this together. Lots of press and media coverage available, too.
