Picture This Dad, Celebrating A Father’s Love PDF Print E-mail

Father's Day June 18th

How can you make a real impact on the future of peace in just a few hours? Keep reading.

Goal: To give fathers an opportunity to express their love for their children in a lasting and meaningful way by promoting support for a U.S. Dept. of Peace.

Here’s the simple plan:

1. Find a photograph of yourself with your children, old or new. If you’re not a Dad, then use an old photo of you and your father.

2. Write something about the link between a father’s love and your belief in the Dept. of Peace. Dedicate it to your children, or to your Dad. Specifically, ask the postcard recipient to actively support the bill in any way they can. (Remember to include the bill numbers, HR. 3760 and S. 1756 along with web address).

3. Take your photo and your words and make a postcard from it. There should be at least two versions, one for Congressional committee Members and your own Representatives, and one for everyone else. (Or craft a briefer message and leave room to write a personal note with the key request).

4. There are two easy ways to create your 4”x 6”postcard:

a. Online through a service such as Snapfish.com. Follow their simple directions and you should have them finished and in hand within a week.

b. Bring your picture and words to a print shop, like Kinkos, have them create the finished postcard.

5. While you’re waiting for your postcards to arrive, be sure to visit the U.S. Postal Service and buy 24 cent stamps. Now you are ready to mail!

a. Send it to your Representative and two Senators

b. Next, send it to all committee Members where the bill has been sent, specifically requesting a hearing on the Dept. of Peace legislation. See list of committee Members addresses click here (scroll to bottom of page).

c. Get creative: send it to community leaders you would like to get involved in the campaign and anyone else you wish to share the idea of a Dept. of Peace with.

We encourage you to send 50-100 such postcards during the week before (June 10-17) Father’s Day, June 18th.

Imagine a flood of postcards crisscrossing the nation, arriving in hundreds and thousands of mailboxes just in time for Father’s Day!

What a truly wonderful way for fathers everywhere to express their love for their children, to remind themselves, and others, of that feeling you had when you first held that brand new child in your arms – when all you wanted to do was love them and keep them safe.

The Department of Peace can be that security blanket and the structure of fulfillment for a more peaceful world.
