Waking up this morning, I found myself to be in a state of pure
amazement that in a few hours I was going to be on the Hill meeting
with the staff of Colorado Representatives, lobbying for a Department
of Peace. I have lobbied before in Fort Collins, Colorado but lobbying
on the Hill in Washington D.C. was a much different experience. This
morning over ten Colorado constitutes set to the street.

like the The Peace Alliance, and the general Department of Peace
campaign. Tonight we began our conference by reigniting old friendships
from previous events and conferences, both with people inside our
states as well as with people across the nation.

The Peace Alliance has matured as an organization. In D.C., today, I'm
seeing professional conference planning and execution, refined
messaging, and really sophisticated support materials. I'm preparing
for another dose, over the next few days, of high-octane advocacy
training. This conference is inspirational for me. That's partly
because of the stories and promise of bringing a culture of peace to
the mainstream, but also because it shows a very mature side of the
peace movement.
